Questions you’ve asked about the: “Keeping Kids Safe & Secure” levy.

What is the “Keeping Kids Safe & Secure” levy?

The Target Range School District has placed a 5 year School Building Reserve Levy for $850,000 on the March 27, 2012 ballot. This levy will replace a levy and a bond that expired earlier this summer.

What is a "Building Reserve"? Building reserves are the District's main funding source for repairs and improvements to district buildings, thus keeping our children safe and insuring the best learning environment possible. It will continue to bridge the gap between what the state provides and what the parents in Target Range expect for our kids.

How much will it cost? The levy will cost  $27.88 on a property with an assessed value of $100,000, and $55.76 on a property with an assessed value of $200,000.  Use the  calculator to see exactly how much it will cost.

What will the funds be used for? This levy will be used for improving the safety and security of the school, and to improve the ventilation and heating efficiency.  This will  ultimately save taxpayer’s money.

Details: Here is a list of specific items for the levy: (1) Fire, security and phone systems • $50,100 (2) Code compliance (fire escape windows) and important upgrades • $39,200 (3) Heating, cooling, plumbing upgrades and essential repairs • $659,700 (4) Flooring, bathroom, painting, storage, and electrical safety upgrades • $101,000 Total Amount: $850,000
